This sweatshirt draws inspiration from the origins of American sportswear prior to the 1950s, before synthetic materials became widespread.
Similar to the Lot.601 Tee Shirt, it features a flat silhouette achieved through direct cutting.
It incorporates the V-gusset detail at the front and back of the neckline—a feature often omitted in modern production due to cost-cutting or technical advancements, serving as a sweat guard. This specification reflects the social and manufacturing background of that era.
The tubular-knit fleece fabric is produced on vintage loopwheel machines. Introduced to Japan in the Taisho era, these rare machines are currently only in operation in Wakayama Prefecture. While this highly inefficient process produces only about one meter of fabric per hour, taking the time to knit slowly results in a fabric with a soft, airy feel and subtle irregularities. Furthermore, the use of USA cotton gives the fabric a unique texture with a dry touch.
The Charcoal and Beige versions are garment-dyed, creating natural depth in color along the seams and textured areas of the fabric. Combined with the characteristic unevenness of loopwheel knitting, the fabric offers a rich, nuanced appearance despite its solid color.
