The 1930s denim jacket is characterized by its patch pockets with flaps—a detail that represented a significant improvement in quality during an era of material shortages.
The stitching that secures the pleats on the front has also been reinforced, enhancing its perfection as workwear. The single-pocket design is considered to have reached its definitive form during this period. We have also increased its authenticity by using black lacquer buttons and copper rivets, which were standard for light-ounce denim at the time.
The fabric used is our original denim, developed after analyzing vintage denim from that era.
By using green-cast indigo-dyed warp yarns and natural-colored weft yarns, we have maintained the original color while adjusting the yarn counts and increasing the thread density.
Furthermore, by adopting a 1/2 right-hand twill weave, we have achieved a rich texture that differs from standard left-hand twill denim.
The distressing process is based on 1930s vintage denim jackets, expressing a faded look that reflects the conditions of its original use. Given that light-ounce denim and dyes that faded relatively quickly were used back then, we have recreated the characteristic linear fading that occurs in areas prone to friction during wear. The distinct, high-contrast color conveys the practicality and historical essence unique to the workwear of that time.
