This jacket is based on an unnamed American coverall from around 1910, which was excavated from a coal mine. Taiga Takahashi was fascinated by the coverall jacket that came into his possession more than 100 years later. The development of T.T coverall started then. The era of mass production and mass consumption began in the 1920s in the United States. The tradition of craftsmen carefully making one item at a time gave way to a system of manufacturing that made mass production possible without the need for hand skills. The workwear worn by the hard workers who supported the economy testified to this historical background, with straight sewing and simplified, flat patterns. The durability of fabrics and the shape of pockets are all designed to withstand heavy labor. The jacket in particular is more like a tool than a garment. Inheriting the specifications of the time, the jacket has been reconstructed with a shoulder slope to improve underarm puddling, while taking into consideration the texture of the material. The material used is an original twisted whipcord fabric created by studying vintage swatches from the 1940s. *The name “whipcord” comes from the thick ridges that resemble the whipcord of a horseback rider.
