[Material characteristics]
This original fabric was reinterpreted based on archive materials from a historic weaving shop in Oshu, with the aim of creating a material that can be worn all year round.
By weaving rough, tightly twisted cotton yarn, which preserves its natural texture, on an old-fashioned shuttle loom, we have created a fabric with a unique texture that is dry and stiff, unlike the feel of cotton.
By varying the number of warp and weft threads used, a three-dimensional, uneven dobby weave checkered pattern is created, even though the fabric is plain.
It has a unique presence, like an antique, carefully hand-woven by hand. It is a fabric that will age beautifully with use, giving it a unique look.
The product has been washed, giving it a worn, wrinkled texture.
